Here's a pick of what you should expect to appear on your 14" (or flatscreen, if you're well-off) in the near fture..
SMITH & JONES, REVISITED
The duo who made years of top sketches are to return to primetime TV.
Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones started there series back in the 80's with Alas Smith & Jones (a pun on the US cowboy series), then up into the 90's with more series.
The new series won't feature all new stuff (sadly) but some new stuff and a look back at some of their classic sketches, rather like the recent Two Ronnies Sketchbook.
Fridays @ 9.30, BBC1, with new series of Have I Got News For You @ 9pm.
never mind the presenter
Another popular BBC TV show has gone for the guest presenter theme, this time it's music guiz show Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
50's throwback Mark Lamarr (minus quiff) has left the show, leaving the BBC to get in guest presenters, reather like Have I Got News For You, but fortunately, the team captains, Phil Jupitus and Bill Bailey remain.
Guest presenters include Jonathan Ross (never!), Simon Amstell (that poof off Popworld) Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs) and Jeremy Clarkson.
Mondays @ 9, BBC2
WHAT THE TELLY HELL IS THIS?
A new Channel 4 programme looking at a particular TV personality and their favourite/most hated TV programmes of all time in on air.
'TV Heaven, Telly Hell' hosted by the witty Sean Lock is new (yes, new) and each week will have a different guest nominating crap/great TV.
It's a bit of a rip-off Room 101, but it's still watchable.
Tuesdays @ 11ish, Channel 4
COMEDY CONNECTIONS IS BACK
The BBC's comedy fact series, Comedy Connections, is back. It looks at the cast, writers, and anyone of interest in relation to a particular TV comedy.
The new series, started on 6th March on BBC1, features:
- The Fast Show
- Dinnerladies
- Drop the Dead Donkey
- Ever Decreasng Circles - still to be shown after it was cancelled..
- Shooting Stars
- To The Manor Born
- 'Allo!, 'Allo!
- That Was The Week That Was
Mondays @ 10.35, BBC1
SMITH & JONES RETURN.. KIND OF
The duo Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones are returning to telly - together, with a collection of some of their comedy sketches from their series over the years, including Alas from the 80's.
It's for the BBC, and will be rather like the Two Ronnies Sketchbook.
Shame there's no new series..
Gina Yashere...
...isn't funny, so stop putting her on TV.
