| Reasons |
Here are a selection of reasons why I don't like ITV, and the way it is going. You may disagree, but then again, you might have had your brains taken out.
In no particular order:

- Gradual scrapping of regional identities - this is the biggest reason foe me, and many other people. Regional TV is something we need, and we'd always go to our local ITV region for regional programming, but soon, the only regional bit we'll get is the news. It was better when we had our own regional companies, such as Westcountry (or Westward, and TSW before) Meridian and Central, but gradually, the big companies, Granada and Carlton, bought everything up, even re-branding some regions with the broadcaters' name instead of its well-known name. But now, since the Granada/Carlton merge, nearly all (except Scottish, Grampian and Channel Is.) have lost their identity, inc. logo and familiar idents, as ITV 'nationalised' everything as ITV (later, ITV1) - also gone were those familiar continuity announcers...
- The MD - Charles Allen, formally Granada's MD, is the Chief Exec. of ITV (Plc), after pushing out Michael Green of Carlton. To be honest, they were/are as bad as each other.. Now, Allen is stirring up trouble as he the other execs. get big pay rises, but other employees get nothing, or even made redundant.
- Putting Profits first - recently, ITV announced a large profit increase, but viwer ratings were falling sharp - surely profits are nice, but you'd want to have more viewers? Being a TV broadcaster and all that..
- Tacky programmes - to be honest, many of ITV's programmes have been of lower quality compared to the BBC (I'm not a BBC zealot either), but in the last few years, programmes sunk to an all-time low, with tosh like I'm a Celebrty.. Footballers Wives and TV's Naughtiest Blunders, amongst lots of others.
- Americanized programs - such as TV's Naughtiest Blunders (now on its' 3094th showing), and their tacky compilation and audience programmes are just a joke, yes, includes Planet's Funniest Animals..
- Keeping Ant & Dec emplyed - yes, I think ITV are the culprits. Have you actually watched their Takeaway thing? Talk about rip-off Noel's House Party - that got crap, but at least the BBC axed it.
- On-screen clutter/having a graphics machine - why, oh why do they insist on squeezing the credits of every programme? And talk over them too, and top add to insult, they have a pointless 'next' captions a before the programme finishes - made for idiots. OK, other broadcasters do this, but not always on the same scale. On the same note: their idents are crap, and those celebrity ones were worse - an ode to the talentless idiots they keep employed.
- Their recorded continuity - when it was up to each region, continuity was not always recorded, but now, a lot of it is, and it shows, especially when there's a cock-up. Many of their announcers are patronising and unprofessional, too.
- ITV2 - does anyone actually watch it? Continous US tripe and (Chav's fave.) Trisha..
- Trisha - where do they get these people from? 'Ring a Wanker' or something? Nothing against the woman herself, even though she's had sense to move to another b.caster, even then, ITV are still showing her show at the same time as her new one.. nothing bitter or anything..
- Scrapping G.Plus for ITV3 - what a disgrace, don't know many jobs have been lost over this. We expected ITV3 to launch, but the well-known and liked Plus would stay, but as ITV3 launched, Plus disappeared - not even many of the people at Plus knew what was happening, but ITV had bought out Granada Sky Broadcasting (Plus's owner). Now, looking at 3, most people would like Plus back.
- Scrapping Men & Motors for ITV4 - they're at it again..
- Constant adverts - links to 'putting profits first'.
- Bad time-keeping - their great programmes are normally late in the evenings on ITV1/2, mainly because of the ad cash-in, News at Ten? News at When, more like.
- Soaps - why so many? The acting is appalling! I'm no expert on acting, but blimey..
- OTT News - lots og banging drums, over-serious acting of news readers, and why do they have to stand to tell us the news?! Our local news has been forced to have this now.
- Axing World in Action - is 'Tonight' any replacement? No offence, Trev.
- Axing Roy Walker from Catchphrase - only to replace him with an ITV lovechild.. at least he broke his leg on-set, and buggered off.
- Celebrity obsession - part of the reason why it's turning into a women-only network..
- The fact there are a lot more reasons to post here than already posted.. I'll add more when the time comes!
